The experimental project Cultural Landscapes in Banat, initiated in 2020, delves into the intricate interplay between historical and emerging approaches in both theory and practice concerning the identification and analysis of cultural landscapes. Developed over time for the Banat region of Romania, the initiative explores the evolving relationship between human societies and their environment. Adopting a multidisciplinary approach, the project scrutinizes geographical characteristics, historical narratives, urban characteristics, architectural remnants, emphasizing the fusion of traditional and contemporary perspectives, and shedding light on how cultural identity is shaped by physical surroundings.
The purpose of the article is to provide an overview of the Cultural Landscapes in Banat project’s evolution, highlighting the approaches applied. It also offers an insight into the rich content of the online database, which serves as an essential resource for understanding the evolution of the interaction between the natural environment and the built framework.
